Brian Houchins of Mechanicsburg is the recipient of 2023 community Recognition Award. This prestigious award is presented annually to a person who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to enhancing the lives of children in our neighborhood.
Brian Houchins, a dedicated elementary college trainer and group volunteer, has been an unwavering advocate for children's training and welfare. Over the past ten years, his efforts have significantly impacted the lives of countless kids in Mechanicsburg and surrounding areas. Houchins' initiatives embrace establishing a free after-school tutoring program for underprivileged students, weekend workshops specializing in literacy and numeracy skills for at-risk youth, and leading a successful community-driven marketing campaign to upgrade local playgrounds, ensuring secure and inclusive play areas for all children.
The event is expected to be on January 15,in January 15th,2024,2024at the Mechanicsburg Community Center. The event will feature speeches from local dignitaries, a presentation about Houchins' contributions, and the award presentation.
